About Festival
Let me invite you to „The International Jazz Festival Litvínov 2011“, which will be on from 9. (Thursday) to 12. (Sunday) of June 2011. In the years 2009 – 2011 these events take place in Litvínov within the frame of project Ziel3 – Cíl3. We cooperate with the Saxon association „Musikrat“ from Dresden and we have a support of European Union for organizing this cultural tradition, whose beginnings we can find already in the year 1999.
This year we will again have overall three morning blocks (from Friday to Sunday) of improvisation workshops according to instrumental groups. The foreign lectors will teach too. The evening concerts will be retained, Thursday – the opening one, Friday – the main concert, Saturday – recording of DVD and three Jam Sessions. All the three main evening concerts will be interlaid with professional guest´s performances.
Since 2005 the foreign stars take part in the concerts. On Friday and Saturday afternoon the selection of compositions for DVD recording will run over in face of the professional jury. The DVD will be the final product of the whole IJF Litvínov 2011. At the same time the festival will be the nomination (for two chosen ensembles) for workshops in Dresden in Saxony, which will take place in November 2011.
The nonstop concerts in the square in the city-centre and by Citadela will be retained too. The concerts will take place also in surrounding towns. So each orchestra will perform at least three times solo.
